Red Dirt Natural Beauty by Whitney Teal
Natural, intentionally sourced & unabashedly centering Black women, red dirt by Whitney Teal is a feminist beauty line operating from a radical perch: that women, femmes & people should be celebrated, not disparaged. Stretch marks are adored, cellulite is heralded & pimples are lovingly treated to nourishing oils in the red dirt universe.
Whitney started making her own beauty concoctions in her kitchen over a decade ago, but just for fun. A couple of years back, she started giving out body butters to friends and family as gifts. She received so much encouragement and positive feedback that she took the leap and started red dirt.
The hands-on mixing of her products is her fave thing about work. "It's very tactile, always leaves my kitchen smelling amazing, and I get to use all the leftover oil and butter on my skin!" Whitney also loves curating her @reddirt_natural feed. It's her weekly love letter to Black women, brown skin, and textured hair. About joining Femme Fatale, Whitney admits that she didn't do it at first because her business was so new, and she felt intimidated to apply. But she told herself 2019 was the year, and she's so glad she did it!
Whitney's hosting a workshop on May 25 at @femmefataledc where you'll learn how to whip up your own personalized + nourishing oil blend using essential oils. Can't make it to the shop?
