Lincoln Street Design + Kathryn Aikin
We have a major Etsy addiction, and @lincolnstreetdesign isn't helping matters... creator Kathryn (aka Kit) crafts jewelry art with resin and metals, and this holiday season she featured gorgeous little tree ornaments, too.
When we saw the cicada resin ornament she created, we fell in love. (swipe for pic) One of our fave things about DC summers is the beautiful din of those crazy insects. It was a natural addition to our tree, and inspired us to start a #madeinDC themed Christmas tree tradition!
But "strange and unusual hand-crafted jewelry" defines what Kit creates most. Pictured here: "Impractical Ring #7" - a 1-inch square green resin ring. Her description sums up this art/ring perfectly...
"The Impractical Ring series explores jewelry as attention. The size and vertical orientation is designed to bring attention to the piece, both from the observer and the wearer who through the act of adornment is forced to pay attention to the ring because it impedes certain activities."
You can snag this ring, or the red resin Impractical Ring #8 through her Etsy shop (link in bio via @lincolnstreetdesign). Or browse through her collection of art-as-jewelry necklaces, earrings, and cufflinks. You're sure to find a unique, one-of-a-kind gift for that creative person in your life.
